As much as I've been moaning that Ashford has been a trek, it's been worth my time coming in - our teaching co-ordinator, Annette, is one of the nicest people I've met - we put our money together to buy her a Vinopolis wine-tasting course as a thank you present :) Gladys, the other administrator; is also lovely, letting me use her office to make course/project-related phone calls, as well as her fax too...
..we've also managed to blag a free £16 textbook each today (me, Jyoti and Shobhit) on the 'ABC of ECG's'; very useful, despite it arriving next week/week after - ie *after* our exams but in time for retakes. How did we do that? By asking the guy at the desk if the books were for sale ;) (drug reps don't usually pay attention to medical students).
Dr Irani (meanie) was also charmed by us today - he gave us all a 'B' in our assessment; which is more than I'd ever bargained for; knowing precisely what a harsh marker he is - he humiliates the people he teaches in order to scare them into learning their skills/material - and despite not liking ritual humiliation - I find I tend to revise better with this kind of pressure. He invited us back to do our pre-finals firm with him - something I *might* take him up on.
All in all - it's been a good half-day..off to skills lab now for some lovely suture/catheter practice...
